This project delivered a new high-containment laboratory facility to replace outdated accommodation for the AI, NDV and RWZ virology groups, supporting critical research, diagnostics and disease surveillance.

A two-storey prefabricated modular approach enabled rapid delivery of approximately 1,200m² of specialist CL2 and CL3/SAPO 4 laboratory accommodation for virology research and testing.

The modular design supported efficient delivery while maintaining quality, safety and environmental control. Dedicated first-floor mechanical and electrical plant provides the services required for specialist containment laboratories.

Laboratory, support and plant spaces were carefully integrated to create a resilient, future-proof facility capable of supporting evolving research, diagnostic and surveillance programmes.

The completed development provides modern, flexible and highly specialised laboratory accommodation, strengthening essential research, consultancy and diagnostic services for animal and public health.
