Architon provided planning, design and tender services for a major security enhancement project at Forest Research’s Alice Holt campus. The scheme introduced new perimeter fencing, vehicle gates and pedestrian access controls to protect laboratories, offices and specialist research facilities while maintaining a welcoming campus environment.
Located within a woodland setting, the design carefully balanced operational security requirements with accessibility and landscape considerations. A new accessible resin-bound footpath was incorporated to improve connectivity and provide step-free access between key campus buildings and entrance points.
Completed in 2024, the project strengthens site security while supporting the ongoing operation of one of the UK’s leading environmental research centres.
