Architon delivered the transformation of former office and library accommodation into a modern Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) facility, supporting faster diagnosis and treatment while reducing the need for overnight hospital admissions.

The project involved the complete strip-out and refurbishment of the existing space to create a highly functional clinical environment featuring inpatient bays, single bedrooms, consultation and examination rooms, trolley bays, recliner areas, waiting facilities and associated staff support spaces. Significant upgrades were also made to the building envelope, ventilation systems and fire safety infrastructure.

Careful planning and coordination ensured the facility met NHS clinical standards while delivering an efficient and welcoming environment for patients and healthcare professionals.

The completed SDEC unit provides a flexible and modern healthcare setting that enables improved patient pathways, enhanced operational efficiency and high-quality same-day care.
